Admission Criteria

The Academic Committee of the PhD Program (CAPD) will be responsible for selecting and admitting applicants based on the following criteria:

  • Academic Background and Academic Record: The academic background and transcripts will be evaluated, with special consideration given to degrees with competencies and knowledge related to the areas of specialization within the PhD Program.

  • Letter of Interest or Prior Commitment: The submission of a letter of interest or a prior commitment from a professor/researcher affiliated with the PhD Program will be considered.

  • Motivation Letter: Candidates are required to submit a motivation letter that demonstrates their interest in pursuing the PhD Program and the specific research topic they would like to investigate if admitted. The evaluation will focus on the strength of the reasons for applying to the program and the alignment between the candidate’s prior education and the research topic they wish to pursue.

  • Professional and Research Experience: Professional and research experience, particularly in activities related to the areas of specialization within the PhD Program, will be considered.

  • Language Proficiency Certification: The certification of sufficient knowledge of English and Spanish (if applicable) to comfortably engage with the program’s instruction in these languages will be evaluated. Specifically, native languages and official language certificates (B2 or equivalent and B1 or equivalent) will be taken into account.

  • International Education Experience: Completing part of their education in other countries, especially in English, will be valued.

  • Letter of Recommendation: The submission of a recommendation letter from accredited professionals in scientific and professional fields related to the PhD Program will be considered.

Supplementary Training for Non-Related Backgrounds: If the candidate’s education and experience are significantly unrelated to the topics of the PhD Program, the candidate may be admitted on the condition that they complete the Supplementary Training as required by the Academic Committee of the PhD Program.
