General description

The PhD Programme in Computer Science and Technology for Smart Cities at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is part of the official postgraduate programme offered by the UPM’s School of Computer Systems Engineering.

The main objective of the degree is to train highly qualified professionals for research and innovation in the field of Computer Engineering, more specifically in the field of computer sciences and technologies, in which the following specializations are contemplated:

  1. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  2. Design of complex software systems and applications
  3. Computer architecture, security and advanced networking

Future PhD graduates will be able to join research and technological innovation departments in companies and institutions in the information and communications sector. They will be able to lead research and innovation projects and actively participate in scientific and technological development, occupying positions with the following professional profiles:

  • Research managers in a high-level scientific environment, both academic and business.

  • Heads of innovation departments in the field of information and communication technologies.

  • Heads of content and service planning departments in the field of the information society.

  • Advisors in the development of research projects (preparation of proposals, search for funding, patent management, etc.).
